Homewood is there when someone needs help
Clients at The Homewood Clinic come from a variety of backgrounds and are referred by many sources. Sometimes, its family members who call on behalf of someone they care about, or family doctors looking for a comprehensive recovery program for their patients. In other cases, it’s an employer or a disability insurer looking for a return to work focused treatment program designed specifically for their employee or plan member. At Homewood, we believe that work is healthy and that engaging in or returning to meaningful work is usually an essential part of the recovery process.
Getting Back to Work, and Back to Life
At The Homewood Clinic, we: provide programs that are customized to a client’s unique needs, geared to their unique diagnosis; build functional capabilities and resiliency; offer transition from inpatient care to a structured program for return to community and work; and offer post-treatment support groups.
Programs that lead to healthy family and work relationships
The Homewood Clinic prepares clients for healthy social, family, and work roles and relationships. Highly structured, the program has defined start times, schedules, and client requirements. Attendance is tracked and where necessary, reported. The program is abstinence-based, so all clients must abstain from alcohol or non-prescribed drug use during treatment.
Psycho-educational workshops
Clients develop important life and work skills. Essential skills are taught through workshops and one-to-one counselling.
Group therapy
Treatment-specific and help develop healthy, new skills for relating to others and getting support from others.
Cognitive work hardening
Specific tasks are used to break down barriers to recovery, increase stamina for work/life demands.
Mental health reactivation
Standard for individuals who are on extended sick leave or receiving disability benefits because of a common mental health issue, such as depression.
Return to work planning
Allows for gradual work return. The schedule can be adjusted or augmented based on a variety of factors related to the client's condition.
Recovery/relapse management
During 52-weeks of group-based after work or evening sessions, clients will get ongoing support designed to reduce the risk of relapse.
